Iftar 2012 – MCEC Welcomes the Afghanistan National Olympic Team

Sunday 5th August saw the community at MCEC (Palmers Green Mosque) welcoming members of the Afghanistan National Olympic team for the traditional Iftar meal.
 
This year sees Ramadan coincide with the Olympics in London and this was a great opportunity for the community to show brotherhood and solidarity with  guests to our country and breaking the fast with them.

The visitors included Massoud Azizi (Athletics), Ajmal Faizzada (Judo), Tahmina Kohistani (Athletics) and Ajmal Faisal (Boxing) as well as other representatives of the Afghanistan National Olympic Committee. They were welcomed by Tariq Sediq our Centre Manager as well as various members of the community.
Athletes eat with community

After some brief words, the fast was broken everyone prayed Maghrib before everyone sat down for a meal together. This event could not have happened without the support of the community and the welcome they extended to our visitors makes MCEC proud.
