MCEC Statement on recent events in Paris

We at MCEC – Palmers Green Mosque send our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the atrocities committed in Paris in the last few days, both at the offices of Charlie Hebdo and the subsequent attack on the Kosher supermarket.
Today we have a group of criminals who feel they can hide behind the religion of Islam, preach hatred and do as they wish. They ignore the paramount responsibility that a Muslim has to be the best of humanity by demonstrating the best of behaviours towards all mankind. Their misguided, close minded and ignorant view of the world, is exactly what Islam came to combat.
These criminals know no boundaries as we see through their recent actions in Paris and Peshawar, and on a daily basis in the Middle East.
As one of our Imams said in the Friday sermon, to the terrorists we say ‘if this attack has been done in the name of Islam, your understanding of Islam has nothing to do with us here. Your interpretation of Islam is acts of terrorism, criminal savagery and of a primitive mentality. It is an act of treachery, disloyalty to your country and the values you agreed to respect.’
We all at MCEC – Palmers Green Mosque, wholeheartedly condemn the actions taken by these criminals across the globe in the name of Islam or any other religion and mourn the loss of innocent lives everywhere in the world.
