Remembering Srebrenica Iftar

It is 20 years since the genocide which occured in the Bosnian town of Srebrenica (then a UN declared Safe Area protected by UN Peacekeepers)
To commemorate this anniversary, in keeping with the events around the country led by the UK Department for Communities and Local Government, MCEC held a commemorative Iftar Dinner on Friday 10th July 2015.
With guests from other faiths, local Dignitaries and regular mosque goers, a moving documentary was screened.
Among the speakers was Saif Ahmad, CEO of Al Khair and trustee of MCEC. With his links to Bosnia since the early 90s his personal account of the lives of the survivors visibly moved the audience.


The evening concluded with an iftar  to break the fast and a hot meal.
