Palestine/Israel – What we need to hear – 6 November 2010

MCEC will be hosting Robi Damelin and Ali Abu Awwad…
Robi Damelin´s son was shot and killed by a Palestinian sniper while serving as a military reserve soldier in the Occupied Territories.
Ali Abu Awwad’s brother was shot and killed by an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint at the entrance to his village.
Robi and Ali are members of the Parents Circle-Families Forum: Palestinian-Israeli Families for Peace, Reconciliation and Tolerance. This organisation consists of more than 500 Israeli and Palestinian families who have lost loved ones during decades of conflict. They are calling for an end to violence. Through sharing their grief, extending the hand of friendship and exploring their common humanity they are working to establish a framework for peace and reconciliation.
Also there will be a screening of the film ‘Encounter Point’ at 6.45pm followed by a Q&A and refreshments.
