With the help of our CEO and his resources, MCEC management was able to start the ball rolling on this project immediately!

We were deeply hurt and saddened to hear about the recent tragedies that were presented to us by the Afghani refugee families when they reached the UK. The majority of the families did not have any items of clothing, toiletries or items for their children.

It is a duty amongst us as a community to help these families integrate into their new environment and feel at ease.

With the help of Allah (SWT), the generosity of the management and the help of our staff and volunteers, we were able to help 27 refugee families, which resulted in 156 individuals. We provided them with basic needs such as warm clothing items, prayers mats, abayas and toiletries. Our volunteers drove to Manchester, Birmingham, Heathrow and Gatwick to ensure the items were safely received by the families.

Each family member receives: A top, a bottom, warm jackets, sanitary products, ladies abayas and prayer mats

There is no I in Team. While we had sincere intentions in our hearts to help those in need, we were presented with many obstacles on the way from the permission of the hotels to deliver the items, to security, gathering volunteers, and information of sizes of clothing for the children. We worked towards a very limited timescale due to the relocation of the families, but we did not give up hope and our efforts were gratefully appreciated.

In the Quran, Allah (SWT) says: “Help one another in acts of piety and righteousness. (Quran 5:2).

Clearly, it is a reminder, that a sincere and noble intention for the sake of Allah (SWT) can go a long way!

We would like to thank everyone for their donations and support.

May Allah reward us all for our efforts and bring peace and harmony across the world, Ameen.
