The Met Office has released a forecast for a heatwave across England for the next two weeks with temperatures reaching up to 33 degrees in some parts.  This has been declared a Level 2 Heat-health alert.
Whilst fasting we should all take the necessary precautions and be sensible about our risks.
NHS choices, Public Health England and the Muslim Council of Britain have published 7 tips stay safe and healthy.
1.) During hot weather, dehydration is a common and serious risk, it is important that you drink plenty of water between Iftar (sunset meal) and Suhoor (pre-dawn meal)
2.) Try to keep out of the sun between 11am to 3pm
3.) Balance food and fluid intake in between fasts, ensuring you drink sufficient water
4.) Wear light, loose-fitting cotton clothes, a hat and light scarf
5.) If you start to feel unwell, disorientated, confused, or collapse or faint, be prepared to stop fasting and have a drink of water or other fluid.
6.) This is especially important for older adults, those with poorly controlled medical conditions such as low/high blood pressure, diabetes and those who are receiving dialysis treatment.
7.) Check on others in the community who may be at greater risk. Children are not allowed to fast – fasting is only for those who have reached puberty and are fit enough to fast.
